Student Celebrations
Agenda Item 4.0
Devonshire Instructional Coach Cindy Kiel, along with several Devonshire students, presented their experiences with Let Me Run club to the board. The club is for 4th and 5th grade boys, and the students train for a 5K race that takes place at the end of the season. The students talked about the many benefits of belonging to the club, including building camaraderie, improving physical strength and endurance, and creating a positive mindset.

Agenda Item 5.0
Award of Bid for Paper – 5.01
CCSD59 issues a paper bid once each year for a quantity projected to meet one year’s needs. This year the bid is for xerographic and vellum paper.
Five bids were received with the lowest conforming bids submitted by Veritive Operating Company with a bid of $72,465 for xerographic paper and by Midland Paper Company with a bid of $9,930.75 for vellum paper.
The board will vote on approval of these bids at the December 10, 2018, board meeting.
Definitions of Agenda Items – 5.02
The board discussed the definitions of items that appear on CCSD59’s board meeting agendas. Additional discussion on these definitions will take place at a future board meeting.
Strategic Planning Sub-Committee Update – 5.03
The board discussed three potential partners to provide support for strategic planning and community engagement. The sub-committee members will follow up with the potential partners to receive additional information as requested by the board. Discussion will continue at the December 10, 2018, board meeting.

Approval of Updates to the Governance Cycle – 8.01
The board approved the board governance cycle that was discussed at the October 9, 2018, board meeting.
Approval of Updates to the Board Working Agreements – 8.02
The board approved revisions that have been made to the board governance document. The board updated its purpose, roles, standards, agreements, and protocols.
Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement with Elk Grove Park District For the Operation of Yoga Kids – 8.03
Through an Intergovernmental Agreement with Elk Grove Park District, Juliette Low school is interested in continuing the Yoga Kids program in the 18-19 school year with the LOP classes that was successfully implemented in 2017.
The board approved the Intergovernmental Agreement with Elk Grove Park District.
Approval of Rivers Casino Grant for $49,927.80 – 8.04
The board approved a grant of $49,927.80 from Rivers Casino. This grant will support kindergarten and first-grade students at Brentwood Elementary School and Devonshire Elementary school by providing 148 Acer Chrome Tablets.
Approval of the Second Amendment to Purchase and Sale Agreement between Community Consolidated School District 59 and Red Rocks 4, LLC – 8.05
At the October 24, 2016, board meeting, the board authorized the execution of purchase contract for property and buildings. This authorization was the sale of the 2123 S. Arlington Heights Road and the 2121 S. Arlington Heights Road properties in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to Red Rocks 4, LLC.
Since this authorization, an amendment was made to the original contract which outlines adjusted timelines and provides additional clarification to the original purchase contract.
The board approved the second amendment to the purchase and sale agreement between CCSD59 and Red Rocks 4, LLC.
