WATCH: Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation Ceremony
As the 2019-2020 school year comes to an end, Holmes Junior High and CCSD59 are committed to honoring our graduating eighth grade students and all they have accomplished during their time in our schools. Our families, PTO members, and staff have put forth remarkable efforts to make every student in the district feel recognized during our school closure.
While we truly wish we could be back in those buildings this year celebrating our students’ success and see them off in a manner we are all accustomed to, we know the current environment will not allow this option as we all work to keep everyone as safe as possible. However, that does not prevent us from celebrating the incredible work of our eighth grade students. In that effort, students in the Class of 2020 are being honored through a virtual commencement ceremony video before they move on to the next chapter of their education.
“We are so incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished during their time in CCSD59,” said Dr. Art Fessler, Superintendent of Schools in CCSD59. “I hope our students know that each one of them has inspired us by their acts of kindness, the support they have provided each other, and the connections they have maintained during the school closure.”
“Even though they could not be in the classroom, they still persevered and worked to finish out the school year. I believe this is important to remember in the future. When you face obstacles, adversity, or difficult circumstances, know that you can be successful through these challenges, because you already have.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and we wish you the best of luck in the future.
