¡Hola!

I am Ms. Bavaro and this is my 15th year working in CCSD59.  I am currently teaching ESL Newcomers Language Arts, as well as AVID Excel.  I am a sequential bilingual with English as my first language and Spanish as my second language.  My past experience includes teaching Dual Language for seven years, English Language Arts for several years, as well as servicing as an ESL program assistant.

For ESL Newcomers Language Arts, we will be working on developing our English language skills, as well as learning about some of the cultures and customs in the United States.  We will focus on all four language domains: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

For AVID Excel, we will be exploring and practicing what it means to be a “scholar.”  Through class discussions and activities, such as “Philosophical Chairs,” we will work on expanding our English language as well as our abilities as students.
