First Year at CCSD59
2008
Hello, my name is Miss Buishas and this is my 9th year teaching reading at Grove Junior High. The first four years of my teaching career, I taught English to grades 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 at a Catholic school in Chicago Heights. I went to Eastern Illinois University for my undergrad degree and finished my 2nd Master’s degree (Reading Specialist; the first one was in administration through Concordia University) through Northern Illinois University in December of 2012. I have learned so much that I can use in my classes every single day. I would like to think that I’ll be finished with school after this degree, but I doubt it 🙂 I think I may eventually go on to get a Doctorate degree in school psychology.
In my spare time, I really like to read, run, be with family (especially my adorable nephews, James and Jack!) and friends, travel, go to Cubs games (this is our year!!), and try new restaurants. I live in Chicago about 10 blocks away from Wrigley Field.
I love reading and I love that I get to encourage kids to read every chance they get. It is my sincere hope that every student leaves my room a life-long independent reader. To me, nothing would be better 🙂
