What does it mean to be tardy to your class and what happens as a result?

When the bell rings you need to be seated.  Coming to class tardy will result in a minor.

What if I forget my pen or pencil?

Turn in your I.D. and borrow a pen or pencil. When you return the pen/pencil, you take back your I.D.

What if I did not complete/forgot a homework assignment?

Homework assignments will be accepted one day late for half credit.

What if I do not pass a quiz?

Students who earn lower than 70% are strongly encouraged retake it.  The retake must be scheduled with me for before or after school within a week after the original quiz date. Retakes will not be available on tests.

What if I need extra help?

Do not ever hesitate to talk to me if you ever are feeling confused, having a question, or want some extra help. We will set a time up before or after school to work together.

What if I want to know what my grade is?

Check skyward.  Your grades will be based upon these four areas:

• 35% = tests
• 40%= quizzes
• 15%=class work/participation
• 10%=homework

Please check your grade regularly and see me with any questions.

What do I do when I’m absent?

Our daily assignments will be available on Sra. Hutchins’ website.  It is your job to check it and see what you missed. After checking the site, if you have ay questions, see me.  When you complete any late work electronically, send me an email letting me know what you completed or attach the completed work.  If you miss a quiz or test, you need to set up a time to make it up.

It is YOUR responsibility to make up work when you are absent.

What if I need to leave the classroom?

Each quarter you will receive 3 hall passes (pase para el pasillo).  You will only be allowed to leave the room if you ask in Spanish. Any unused passes may be turned in at the end of the quarter for extra credit.   If you use up all your passes for the quarter and come unprepared to class, you will receive a minor.

What if I need to leave my desk to sharpen my pencil or get Kleenex?

You may do so without asking permission.

What are classroom jobs?

I will be looking for student volunteers to take on some additional tasks to help make class run smoothly.

What if I have band/orchestra/gold key/field trip?

It is your responsibility to remind me either in person or by electronic message that you will not be in my class for any of these reasons.   This allows you to see what you will be missing, and get any assignments for the next day.

 What will happen if I use my cell phone or take it out during class?

It will be given to your grade level administrator.

What if I get caught violating the technology policy?

If you are using your laptop inappropriately (depending on the situation) you will receive a minor/major and be referred to the grade level administrator.
